On September 1, 2006 I left Bellingham, Washington on my trek across the country to Key West of the Florida Keys. The mission is to raise money for cancer research. I'm walking down the west coast and at Southern California I'll turn east toward walkingthrough the Florida Keys all the way down to Key West.
My mother's life is the main motivator for me making the walk for cancer research. I was prematurely born because my mother had Leukemia. We were both lucky to live. She had a born marrow transplant in early 1979 and was one of the first good survivor cases. Then a later bout with cancer, melanoma, took her life in 1999. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle played a role in extending my mother's life 20 years. This is the main reason that I choose to raise funds for them.
The journey will also allow me to get to know the country. I'll be capturing the trip on video for footage to be compiled for a documentary. You can click on the map to see where I've traveled and the route for the rest of the journey.
